Intro to Artificial Intelligence: Metaverse for Education Newsletter Issue #19

Hello Educators & Friends!
Did you fall into the Dall-E rabbithole? Have you spent all of your transit hours inventing prompts for art generation? Yeah...me neitherš¤.
But seriously, artificial Intelligence has been used behind the scenes for decades so why is it so hot all of a sudden? I think it's the same reason blockchain exploded in the last two years.
ā Public utility & ease of use.
Creating a mechanism to easily use AI for creative pursuits has onboarded millions to the technology. And as humans would, the artwork generated is wild and speaks to the depths of the mind.
So how will these improved AI technologies impact web3? Or education?
We know that web3 promotes decentralized data sets on blockchain. What if AI could sweep a variety of chains at the same time and...
identify candidates for jobs or talented students for universities through credential metadata; or,
recommend proposals for DAOs based on prior voting activity and operations; or,
create and manage new decentralized products or communities that live independently on blockchain; or,
spawn personalized metaverse environments with adaptive learning pathways?
On that last bullet, I am fascinated by the potential of AI creating metaverse spaces that extend beyond our imagination.
During the Fast Company Innovation Festival last week (pictured), I said something on stage that shocked the room and sent Meta for a tailspin š±. I said I would be interested in an out of body experience in the Metaverse... like death. I am curious to know if AI can gather enough data to simulate situations that no one has ever consciously experienced. š¤
AI of course, as with all tech, is capable of many dangerous outcomes, including killer robots š¤.
But before we get too deep with possibilities, let's dig into the fundamentals with this week's issue on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The simplest way to define AI is when computers can mimic human learning, reasoning,Ā and perception. I wonder... is there a society of computers having conversations with one another?
Wherever AI is taking us, I'm both nervously and excitedly here for it.
Warmly yours,
Vriti & k20 Educators
