I just posted a piece related to this topic. Your piece has the same quiet desperation Iโm feeling. How do we work with a system that needs a complete overhaul? These are treacherous times for schools. Thanks for sharing your insights
Hi Terry! Thanks for commenting. Would you link your related piece here so I can check it out?
Weโve focused on students and pedagogy for so long that we forgot about teachers. Itโs like preparing doctors with medical equipment and suturing techniques without expecting them to understand how the human body works and how to maintain their own health.
Teachers need better. Kids need teachers to be better.
This post isnโt directly about AI and reading but Iโve got a ton of them since Nov 2022 after the great unveiling. This is the substrate of the problem
"We no longer raise profound questions about the purpose of high school as a lever to improve life for everyone."
" It would not be unusual for students to find themselves cognitively hemmed in by an undereducated teacher."
BTW, the carnegie foundation is working on dismantling the carnegie unit! It's very exciting that they're seeing that it's not longer helpful or relevant.
Great post Vriti, this is the sort of thought leadership education is crying out for and would be interested in co-authoring pieces if useful.
Thanks Nick! We should definitely co-author across the Wisdom Council. This might be a good topic for a future agenda!

Well said. Hope some of it sinks in in the right places.
Thank you for reading. I hope so too!
